How an Olhausen Pool Table is Built

Recently, we completed the most advanced “state of the art” billiard manufacturing facility in the world. Period. A trip to Nashville, Tennessee isn't complete without visiting our plant.

Why did we choose Tennessee for the site of our 250,000 square foot, 22 acre build-out? First, you see quality workmanship all through these parts. Here in the heart of NASCAR Country, America builds lots of furniture, cars, quilts and even sour mash. It's this fundamental mindset of working with your hands for a lifetime that sold us on moving here. It's American pride.

We build our tables to standards that rival the automotive industry. Tolerances are measured in the thousandths of an inch. Ten years after you buy an Olhausen, it still stands the test. And that's what separates us from companies who build their tables overseas or use cheaper slate or cheaper woods.

To them we say, you can build it cheaper than we can but you can't build it better. And here's why…

Best Grade Slow Growth Hardwoods

First stop on the plant tour is to our lumberyard. We use only the finest lumber to build our tables. We are the only pool table manufacturer, and one of only a few furniture manufacturers, that has an in-house lumber mill. Once it is inspected, we measure and cut. Blems are discarded and attention is paid to the contours of the grain. For those tables with designs needing hand finishes, this is most important.

After cutting, we sand and prep for actual construction.

World's Finest Slate

A table must play cleanly and without ridges and grooves. We buy only the finest slate from Brazil and Italy. The result is the world's finest playing surface with speed, balance and consistency.

Accurate, Fast Cushions

We use a special, high-density gum to construct our cushions. As a result, our cushions don't get dry and play differently as the years go on. Our patented—American made Accu-Fast® Cushions demonstrate the value of our table—it will play as fast and true in a decade as it does today.

Leathers and Finishes

Our master carpenters and painters create the Rolls-Royce® of pool tables. You can see it in the top-quality leathers, felt, embroidery and finishes we use. Our stains, styles and inlay work are reasons why our name is world-known.
